5 signs you’re ready to take your business to the next level

This might seem an odd blog for a content writer to write. But the women I work with are at this very point. The precipice of going all in on their businesses but hesitant about whether it’s the right thing to do.

I wanted to share mine, and their experiences about what the 5 signs are that you’re ready to level up your business, ready to grow and ready to thrive.

  1. Your head and heart want to do it

Ok so this one is a biggie. There comes a point when running your business when you know that you can do more and you want to do more. Yes, juggling a business and family life is always going to be a challenge but there’s a moment where you know deep down you’re capable of so much more but to do that you need to make an investment in yourself.

It’s a scary moment and only you can know when it’s the right time. But I promise you if you aren’t at that point already it’ll come. Without that urge to do more, be more and grow you won’t succeed in levelling up.

2.  You’re making money

To make an investment in yourself you need money. That might sound a bit oversimplified but it’s the truth. New headshots, coaching, an accountant, content writing doesn’t come for free. If you want to start building your empire you need cash in the bank to fund it.

You don’t have to go wild and spend everything all at once but you need to know that you’ve got money coming in to fund your expansion plans. A clear sign you’re ready to do that is having enough money to pay yourself what you need and then having some left over. That way you’ve got a little bit in the bank to play with without the worry of meeting your monthly commitments.

3. You love what you do

What’s the point of growing a business you don’t love?

Most of the lovely folk I speak to and work with started self employed life in quite a general role before realising what that one thing that they adore doing is.

Sound familiar? Once you know what that one nugget is you can focus on that and make that the centre of your working world. Some might call it niching but that’s always a bit of a contentious topic!

To put in the hours and stay focused and committed you need to love what you do it’s that simple. So once you know you’ve found that one thing or area you’re ready to grow.

4. You know what you’re doing

Do we ever really know what we’re doing? Probably not. But there comes a point where you feel settled. You know how to do your invoicing, you’ve got clients, you have a process for the work you do. Yes there are areas to improve but by and large you feel in control of your work.

Without that feeling of control over your ways of working even if you were able to grow it’d be unsustainable. You’d feel stressed, confused and all over the place.

Knowing that generally you know what you’re doing and you’re confident in doing it is key to the next stage in your business.

5. You have dreams

“I have dreams like you, no, really

Just much less touchy feely

They mainly happen somewhere warm and sunny

On an island that I own

Tanned and rested and alone

Surrounded by enormous piles of money”

Like Flynn Ryder in Tangled, you’ve got to have a dream. Whether that’s to be surrounded by piles of money on your own, or to take your family on a dream holiday, to move house or just to enjoy life you need a dream.

It’s what will power you through the tough times and what you’ll celebrate when you achieve them. No dream? You better start thinking of one.

How did you get on? Did you tick the boxes? Because when you know you’re ready to move up a level it’s time to work out what you need to do to get there.

It might be working with a virtual assistant to free up your time or it might be investing in building a shiny new website. Or it could be working with a content writer *hint hint*.

When you work with me I’ll create a website that is so you it’s like looking in a mirror. But I’ll say the things you think but can’t say about yourself. I’ll make sure your audience knows how truly amazing you are and why they’d be idiots not to work with you.

Sound too good to be true? I promise it isn’t.

Drop me a message and let’s find out if we can take your business to the next level.
